New night-day easy wear collection by P. Le Moult at Kyō

P. LE MOULT

A graduate of both Central Saint Martins and the École des Beaux-Arts, Praline Le Moult draws on her family history to create what she describes as ‘activewear in retro cuts’. Her grandfather was the French naturalist Eugène Le Moult, who was as famous for hunting butterflies as he was for his custom-made wardrobe. Praline recently inherited his expansive clothing collection, and is using the original cuts to create a range of unisex pyjamas and sleepwear in contemporary fabrics.

Praline’s great-grandfather was the French naturalist EUGÈNE LE MOULT, who was as famous for hunting butterflies as he was for his custom-made wardrobe. «People  think  that  hunting  butterflies  is  a  symbol  of  cute  nonchalance.  In  fact  it's  a  sport,  and  even  one  of  the  hardest.  In  France  this  would  mean  constant  walking,  climbing,  sprinting  or  long-distance  running.  In  the  tropics,  it's  the  same  thing,  plus  the  threat  of  wild  animals.»

EUGÈNE  LE MOULT

EUGÈNE was the world’s most famous butterfly-hunter and owned the largest private collection (indeed, only the collections of the national museums in NEW YORK, LONDON and PARIS were larger.)

Eugène grew up in DEVIL’S ISLAND, French Guiana in the Amazon, then the world’s most famous supermax prison colony, now part of the European Union. His engineer dad had been posted here to build the first roads (the infrastructure is now in use by the EUROPEAN SPACE AGENCY ).

E. Le Moult had clothes tailored for himself to wear on the ocean-liner to South America, and when hunting and sleeping in the jungle (on these expeditions Eugène shared his tents with convict helpers, sent to the jungle after murder or three convictions for crimes*.)
