Description
Kyoto — the curtain of morning and the curtain of night.
This model was inspired by experiences in Kyoto. The design evokes the subtle sheen drifting through the darkness of night, as well as the delicate layers that separate interior and exterior spaces—expressed through light and shadow.
Crafted from lustrous Herdmans linen, the shirt is finished with refined mother-of-pearl buttons that enhance its natural sheen. The collar is high and constructed with a two-button due bottoni collar, giving the shirt a sense of quiet elegance.
Gathered detailing at the back, shoulders, and sleeves creates depth through light and shadow, producing nuanced sculptural volume. The result is a shirt that balances the refined spirit of traditional Japanese aesthetics with a subtle sensuality—reminiscent of the elegance of a kimono.
Fabric
Herdmans Linen
Herdmans is an Irish linen spinning company founded in 1835, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest linen. Hardmans linen is characterized by its beautiful natural sheen and minimal surface fuzz.
This quality is achieved by using only long flax fibers. During production, flax fibers undergo a scutching process—where bundles are beaten to remove unnecessary material—followed by hackling, where the fibers are combed and separated into long fibers (line flax) and short fibers (tow).
Herdmans uses only the long fibers as a principle. This rigorous selection process results in approximately 40% material loss, but ensures the creation of exceptionally high-quality yarn with a smooth surface and refined luster.
