Rather than focusing on trends or outward symbols of luxury, TOKI ARI emphasizes subtlety, quality, and timeless design. Each garment is created with the philosophy that true elegance lies in restraint, allowing the materials, textures, and craftsmanship to speak for themselves.

Rooted in Kyoto’s cultural heritage yet designed for a modern global audience, TOKI ARI offers clothing that carries both a sense of place and a sense of permanence—garments to be lived in, cherished, and returned to over time.

DESIGNER

Kenichi Nakamura

Born in 1970 in Miyako, Iwate Prefecture, Nakamura was raised by nature and sea. Following a near-death experience at birth, he developed a fascination with Buddhism and the unseen forces of existence from an early age. His journey through travel, religion, and art led him to fashion. After honing his craft at an import boutique in Morioka, he launched a children’s clothing shop in 1998 that eventually evolved from vintage and domestic clothing to introducing European designers
